Hi, 　Iｔ's the cherry blossom season now in Sendai. It is also the entrance
 ceremony for many schools This year my daughter entered elementary.
It was a new experience for her.  I wore kimono for my daughter's celebration.
Now with all the cherry blossoms in bloom,  after the opening ceremony it is
a great chance to take some pictures under a cherry tree to keep for 
memories 'cause today with never come again.

  Hi Everyone,  how are you coping with the heat this summer ?  
The summer here in Sendai seems to be a lot hotter than last year.  
I hear of people getting heat strokes or sun strokes this year. 
 It is very difficult to know what to do.  
They say drinking too much cold water is not very good either 
and not drinking enough water can be dangerous.  
So what is actually the best you tell me.  I say, " Be your own doctor."
 During one of our holidays my family went camping to one of 
the coolest places we could find in Akita, Mt. Nyutou Camping site. 
It was 24 degrees the whole time, nice and cool.  
So we have decided to go there again this month, 
 to where we call, " The camping paradise."   Yippee !!!  

  Hi,  are you enjoying your Golden Week holidays ?  Golden Week is 
the longest vacation period of the year for many Japanese.  Almost 
every where is crowded and the high ways are jammed with traffic.
  My family likes avioding crowded areas,  we would rather find a non 
crowded quiet spot to go camping.  This year we drove up to Yamagata,
 and found a nice quiet, peaceful , beautiful place to camp.  There was 
also a tennis coart to play tennis as much as we wanted.  We could 
breathe the freash air and relax our minds. There was even a hot spring
 about 500 meters away we could walk to.  Now I feel all charged up 
 to start my work tomorrow.  Honeymoon is over.  Back to the grindstone. 

  Hi,  I hope you are all enjoying a Happy New Year !  
  My daughter is enjoying her Yo-kai Watch she bought with her
 Otoshidama.  New years can be especially happy for kids living in 
Japan.  Receiving Otoshidama from every Uncle, Aunt, Grandma and 
 Grandpa, friends etc. Even my five year old daughter recieved pretty 
much.  She is a little rich five year old and can afford a Yo-kai watch.
 I have no idea about these Yo-kai Watches but they don't seem to 
 be harmful.  They seem to be cooperative in helping out their friends
 and  ghosts.  I guess they are nice cute ghosts giving smiles to many 
 children.

 Are you enjoying the cold rainy days ?  
 Today at Carol's English we had a wreath making party. First the
students learned how to make the wreath in english.  They made the 
wreath out of fir tree and cedar.  We used herbs like rosemary and 
marigold to decorate the wreath.  When making a wreath you will
 need pinecones, ribbons, wire, and a pair of craft scissors will come
 in handy.  The students were in their glory to take home a beautiful
 handmade wreath.  And many thanks to Ms. Funeyama, who took a 
 day off of her work to come all the way to teach us.

  Hi,  Carol's English Conversation School finally got her sign up.  It 
took a whole month of explaining and then finally past the sign test.
 Thanks to the designer.  I love the cursive font he found for me.  This

   Hi, how are you ?   I have been busy these last few months getting
 my thoughts together to re-open Carol's English Conversation School
 in Sendai, Ichiban-cho.   Ichiban-cho is the main shopping district in
 Sendai,  which made it very difficult for me to find a quiet and
 relaxing place to re-start.   But, there is always some super being
 watching over us if we call upon Him for help.  And I thank God
  I found a very relaxing quiet area  for Carol's English Conversation 
School. 

 Hi,  yesterday they had the annual burning 
 of religious artifacts in Sendai.  In Japanese 
 they call this festival " Donto sai".  The 
" Donto sai" festival is held at the height 
 of winter.  Men wear only sparse,  white 
 clothing and walk silently through the town.
 My daughter and I watched the men half 
 dressed with masculine bodies,  trying not to
 shiver and walking boldly like " Real Samurai"
 They will  march in line to the Shrine where
 a big bonfire is made.  Many local people
 come to  burn their New Year decorations 
 and pray for health in the new year during 
 "Donto sai " festival.

 Are you enjoying your new year holidays ?
 Today I made six fruit cakes to send to 
 relatives and friends for the new year. 
 When I was a child, my mother made about
 thirty fruit cakes every year, and sent them 
 to relalitives and friends.  This became a 
 custom in the Norman family, and now if I 
 don't make these cakes,  I feel like I'm not
 doing my part. 
 I like the Japanese word  " Okagesama ".
 I take this word as ; we live within the love
 of the people around us who support us 
 in times of need.
